Is there any benefit in connecting the Form 4L, Form Wash L, and Cure L to an Ethernet port over WiFi? I’m able to use either for my situation and it seems like, to use the camera, a dedicated LAN with static IP might be best, but for the Cure and the Wash units, what kind, if any, of two-way communication with Preform or the Dashboard is available?
In general, Ethernet provides more reliability and speed. If you can easily connect all your devices with it, great!
Cure and Wash communicate with PreForm just for firmware updates and log downloads, while your printer will rely on the network for job uploads, more frequent updates, monitoring, etc. So I would prioritize that connection being Ethernet.
If you decide to go just with Wi-Fi, that’s fine too. As long as your signal is decent, it shouldn’t be really noticeable.
If you are using Ethernet, you can just set a static IP on the printer, but otherwise you could reserve a DHCP address on the router.
Well, our IT department gave us LAN and static IP addresses for all our four devices. So, I guess that’ll work. When I return to work next week I’ll make sure to download and update all firmware and test to see what the connections give me in Perform/Dashboard.
