We’re trying to do a VERY FAST and crude build using Black V5.
Folks at FormLab haven’t been very helpful in helping with ideas on this, though there’s certainly a way to make it work, as I understand. Current attempts have resulted in a bunch of failed builds..
Anybody done this successfully? IF so do you have a custom settings you could share?
I have not tried this but have you considered working up to 0.2 from known-good 0.1? E.g. 120, 150, 200 microns? Sorry not to more specifically address your question.
Hi @Davidwedge
thank you for the feature request.
Unfortuantely the darker the resin is, the harder it is for light to penetrate deep enough to make a good and reliable thicker layer height. Back in the day on the Form 1 we had a 0.2mm layer setting before the Draft or Fast Model resins were even an idea, but it was exclusive to the clear resin.
I unfortunately do not think that you’ll end up with something very solid going the “Black V5, but thicker layers” route,
What could be a more promising way to go about it could be the “Fast Model, but darker” variant.
Of course we cannot officially endorse adding things to your resin, but we’ve seen good results in adding pigments to resins to give them a bit more pop (excluding the Colour Kit Resin here as it’s specifically made for that).
I do not recommend using our colour kit pigments for this, but I’ve personally had good results using resin dyes in the past (I’ve usually used them on clear resin).
We’ve published a whole article on dyeing and painting resin including a method of using alcohol based inks with your IPA wash.
Kind regards
Jakob

Jakob, thx for the info.
Makes complete sense - deep physics here - > opacity has a way of diminishing lightwaves.
And here, I suppose, is the appropriate point for the reminder “there’s no free lunch”…
I’ve made several attempts at longer heights (.25, .225, etc) but well, they’ve all been very reliable…failures!
