Ive gotten ahold of a Formlabs Form 2 through a hobby association. With it I have some old Resin as well. and by old, were talking 10 years old. One cartridge of Tough V5 is however stamped with 201 9. (however, weither or not that is best before or creation date is unbeknowest to me)
EDIT: It is worth noting that the previous user of the machine had successful runs as late as 2024, based on the printing history 21st of April actually, but he used a 3rd party bottle and poured into the tank. (This bottle I also have, and is also quite old, but he wasn’t sure how old)
My main question:
Say you dust off your old printers, or old Resin. What do you test-print with? I suspect there should be some kind of “default-test” that people use (perhaps even with a step-by-step guide on how to verify/troubleshoot), although I understand that everyone’s situation may be unique and all.
Are there any such tests? Or based on my troubleshooting steps below, are there any tips you can give me to get me going?
Some background:
Ive managed to print one very very small XYZ Calibration cube with supports. (the cube was like 2x2x2mm, so.. ridiculously small, but the support was actually bigger) I used the Tough V5 that i mentioned above. First attempt failed but it worked once i set Z-offset to -0.1
(The ridiculously small cube on its large raft)
But when I enlarged the cube, and skipped supports and again my print failed. Im running the same print again now but with supports.
I mean it could of course be old Resin. And I’m not shy on ordering new Resin but I’d just like to get it working first so that I don’t waste a bunch of money here.. Heh
