Wi-Fi spontaneously disconnects, Ether give itself a 169.xxx.xxx address

I have two new printers, a 3 and a 3L. Both refuse to connect via Ether, and both spontaneously disconnect on Wi-Fi. The network was stable before these guys showed up, and when the printer was a Form2. Not now.

Both printers are 18’ line of sight to the router.

And the 3 gave itself a new name on the network adding a "u"prefix to the old name.

I’ve done the usual; reboot everything, make sure everything has up to date firmware. I can’t identify a precipitating event.

And at any one time, one, both or none will show up either in Preform or in my Dashboard, or neither or both.

Anyone seen anything similar?

My Form 2’s used to forget their wifi network details whenever they were turned off and on again, and I couldn’t be bothered to find out why. Fixed using ethernet cables (real men use wires!). There’s no reason yours shouldn’t be able to use a cabled connection. Must be faulty, contact Formlabs support.
