Touchscreen issues after updating firmware

This is the second time this has happened, after updating the firmware the touchscreen does not respond. I can see everything but I can’t press continue/cancel/back on the screen. The button works though, I have a print that’s going to start soon so I’ll just let it finish the print and try turning it off and on again. :disappointed: But is there anyway to fix this for the future?

I’ve noticed the same Bug on 2 different Form2.

My temporarily solution is to start a print with the button and immediately bevore the print really start disconnect the power supply.
After reconnect power the Touchscreen should work again.

I see, that’s unfortunate but hopefully they will be able to fix this in a future firmware… :disappointed_relieved:

had the same problem - but it went away after i rebooted the machine.

Glad to hear that you were able to get the print started successfully and let me know if power cycling after the print has finished corrects the issue for you. I’ve forwarded this thread to our Software Team so that we can look into a fix.

Yes power cycling fixed the issue and thank you for the reply!

+1 for me as well, however for me powercycling also fixed the issue.

I just got a new Form 2. Do I need to upgrade the Firmware or would it have the latest already? What improvements does the latest firmware have? Is it something I really need to do as I get nervous installing this stuff for these very reasons in the OP post.

@FormBeast You can check two ways: 1st by turning on your printer and going to your settings–>printer info–>firmware version. It should be rc-1.14.21-154 or if your printer is connected with preform already go to file–>printers–>click on the drop down arrow on the left–>click on update firmwire and it will tell you if your printer is up to date or if you need to update it.

It’s good practice to update to the latest and greatest firmware as we do frequently include bug fixes and feature enhancements. New builds are thoroughly tested internally prior to release and I’ve made sure our team is aware of the touch screen freezes. We’ve not seen any cases with the recent update where power cycling the printer doesn’t correct the touch screen issue. If you’re ever curious as to what’s bundled in the latest PreForm or Firmware release, we have a changelog on the Release Notes Page.

Ok thanks. I will update now, just hope I dont get the same touchscreen issues :-S what is power cycling?

Turning it off and on again…in other words, unplug it!

Ok thanks. Yep, I got a touchscreen freeze just now though turning off and on again seems to work.
