Size and measurement in PreForm doesn't match Blender

Hi Guys!

I have a problem with the size and measurement in PreForm. I work in Blender, creating rings etc.
All my rings have careful measurement taken in Blender, but while exporting it to the PreForm I come across this issue

  1. Model has to be scaled up as it is too small;

The scale is fine, it is a typical ring. I make models with custom properties of radius etc.

Is there any way to scale it as it is from Blender excactly to PreForm? Or is there any way to scale it properly in PreForm? (I know there is size of X,Y,Z but it is not enough for this stuff)

Thank you in advance!

What units of measurement are you using in Blender?

milimiters

Are you exporting as STL? If so, I’d try using 3MF as that file format contains a lot more information such as size etc. whereas STL doesn’t have any of this and programs just guess the size.

Yes, STL. I’ll try the 3MF

its the same story as earlier: too small and scaled up. I guess ill go with the DIY “cylinder” method :lab_coat:

Thank you tho!

It may be an issue with the way it was setup in Blender, but it could also be a bug in Preform. It would be nice if someone like @ijanos could chime in. In the meantime, @trideitycorp I’d suggest reaching out to Formlabs Support by email or something.

I recommend double checking blender’s settings. It is most likely that blender “scales down” the model during save from its internal units and it results in a tiny model, hence the warning in PreForm.

You can use the size tool in PreForm and just type in the desired size, I think that should result in the correct size.
