Print file names ignored, overwritten with model names

We are using PreForm 3.60.1.637 and all of our print file names are being overwritten with the models in the print. My staff saves print files with client-specific indicators, and those indicators are now absent on the printers and in our Dashboard. When my office managers prepare to bill our clients at the end of the month, we will be scrambling to identify prints.

This started at the end of last week.

Is this happening to anyone else?

@electrodorks I’m sorry to hear that you’re having some issues with the file names being saved and showing up in Dashboard. Would you please confirm that you are saving the file, before sending it to the printer?

Hi Jess, yes we are saving each print file before sending it to the printer

Started happening last week for me also, I thought I was going crazy.

@electrodorks and @Andrew_W , I found that this is due to a bug in PreForm. There is a planned fix coming.

Since updating to PreForm 3.60.1.637 late last week, all of our custom print file names are being completely overwritten by the names of the models inside the print. Our staff relies on client-specific indicators in the file names for tracking, but these are now totally missing on both our printers and the Dashboard, which is going to create a massive headache for our end-of-month billing. Is this a known bug in this version, and can you please guide us on how to fix this or roll back to a stable version where our file names stay intact?

If you haven’t noticed in the last few days, they’re at it again! At the time of me writing this, we need to copy/paste our file names into the “Build” name box, otherwise it auto-populates with the model names, like what we got back in June.
Don’t confuse that with the “Project” name box, which auto-populates when a file is saved, and doesn’t have any bearing on anything at all, ever.

@jessbuck what’s going on over there? Why is the workflow being made more complicated and confusing?

@electrodorks Please check that you have updated your PreForm firmware to version 3.62.0. This should resolve the issue.

@jessbuck , no, recent changes to PreForm are the issue. While that issue has changed, it is still unsatisfactory.

PreForm seems to be changing in ways that accommodate mass printing, like in print farms. If you want to make software that caters to print farms, do that. Please repair the changes that are negative to users who are not print farms so we can get back to work without fighting with your “improvements”

@electrodorks Thank you for the feedback. I know that it wasn’t the answer you were looking for. I have passed this on to our team using our internal feedback route. If I hear anything about any adjustments, I’m happy to come back and post to let everyone know.
