Let´s say i have a build with 100 parts i import into preform. Lets toy with the notion that i don´t have the stl for it and only have the formfile.
But i only want to print 25 of those. I would like to highlight all of them, right click and choose set nr of items. I then enter 25 and bam there is 25 items. I can the proceed to pack etc.
I think that would be a great QoL procedure. Not sure everyone would benefit from it, i sure would. Now i have to mark some of them up, right click and check model properties to see how many items i´ve marked and so on until i have reached my desired nr of items.
If there already is a feature like this and im just blind, do tell.
Hi, we have “Duplicate” and an “Array” tool that you can use to create a specific number of items.
You are right, that we don’t have a tool that allows you to freely change the number models in a scene. You can use the little eye icon to hide some models, the model list counter tells you the number of visible models. Hidden models are not printed.
I know this only works well with a small number of models because you have to click the eye icon manually on each of them.
Thank you for the request, we will take this use-case into consideration when working on these features.
I’m also missing something like that. I don’t find very logical to have number of copies in the “Pack” menu. Also if I want to have 25 objects, I expect I’ll write 25 and that’s it. But the PreForm will give me 1 (original) and 25 additional…
You can inspire in Slicer, whre you specifi #of instances and you have it - in a separate folder in the tree.
