Please add ability (with 1 click of the mouse) to see how many units of each part is in the build chamber. E.g.,
Part Summary
100 units of Part ABC
20 units of Part XYZ
22 units of Part NOP
144 Total Parts in Build.
Currently it seems to me the only way is to manually scroll down the sidebar and count each part in the ‘Model List’ section, which is prone to human error.
It shows me there is 144 Total parts, but then lists them out individually in the Model List’ section, where I then need to manually count each unit. I make so many mistakes and miscounts.
Thank you and if this exists already, please tell me how to do it.

Hi @3DP-MFG.com
Thank you for the suggestion. There is definitely more work to be done to make it more visible, but there already is a model count in PreForm and there is another way of doing it from the Dashboard.
In PreForm your models will be grouped by their names, so what you can do is click the first part of a given model, scroll down to the last one, hold shift and left click that last piece. It will mark the two parts you clicked and everything in between.
You can then Right-Click → Model Properties, where you will find a model count.
The other way to do this is through the Dashboard. I would recommend this variant if you’re dealing with large numbers of parts or you’re doing a cost analysis of some sort.
Log into your Dashboard and head to Prints → Print History, select your print there → Models → Download .csv
This will download a sheet for this print with all the individual models listed inside (including other things like material used etc.). You can now import this into Excel or Google Sheets and have them count the same names for you. You could even prepare a sheet where you’re always replacing page 2 with this raw data for example and have page 1 spit out individual model counts, material conmsumption, print times and set the sheet up with more variables for you to tune and automatically generate quotes.
Kind regards
Jakob

Interesting. I didn’t know that the model properties also display the number of units.
We use the “Grouping function” for larger quantities. In this way, the corresponding quantity is automatically displayed in the enumeration column.
Perhaps it would be a cool function here if Preform could automatically recognize from the object names that they are the same components and group them automatically. At best, the “auto-grouping” could be switched on and off via the settings if users do not want this.
