I’m curious what others opinions are on the overhaul to support settings.
For myself, some of the changes are undesirable and it’s a bit of a miss for me. I find myself switching back and forth between the old and new UI to support parts the way I want, but mostly still using the old UI. That being said, I think giving users more power here is a step in the right direction.
I do very much like the ability to finally change the anchor size & number of anchor points. That has been a thorn in my side for a long time.
Mostly, I’m curious if anyone here has started using the “Smaller Touchpoint” or “Reduced Density” settings. It looks like aside from density & touchpoint size, there are some other minor changes to the trusses and support structure overall. Historically I have been just manually supporting parts and reducing touchpoints from ~0.6 to 0.3 (resin dependent)…but I’m curious how these other parameter changes in the “Smaller Touchpoint” settings may or may not allow me to go even smaller. For example, for Rigid 4K, my experience is not to go below 0.4mm, but this new setting has it set to 0.3mm.
This is an example of how the Pillar settings are different for Tough 1500 between “Default” and “Reduced Supports”. I’m curious which of these I should start with when manually supporting parts. My intuition is that starting with “Default” is closest to what I’ve historically been doing.
I’d be curious to know others experiences here for those who have deep dived and prefer to manually support like I do.
