I see your response to Mazin, and I find it very encouraging. Has Formlabs changed their policy and are now willing to sell components to end users for self retrofitting/repairs?
If this is the case, that’s good news indeed as there are quite a few of us that still believe the old Form 1+ is a viable machine would like to keep it working for a quite a while.
I for one would like to buy a set of mirrors, as well as a replacement laser. Please let us know how we can go about doing this.
I hope that the organizer of this forum keep this page valid and they don’t close it as I want to share my experience to other formlabs users after replacing the motor .
Hey there! Our policy regarding the F1+ hasn’t really changed. We happen to have a stock of some peel motors left still, and if folks need them we’re certainly willing to see what we can do if they reach out to support!
Mirrors we might be able to help with(again, while supplies last) but lasers we can’t replace in the field unfortunately.
The best way to address these sorts of issues is to submit a ticket to our support team at the link below and we’re happy to go from there! Again, I want to be clear that this is not a long-term option, but we definitely want to do everything we can to help as long as we’re able.
I don’t have a problem with the printer (at the moment, I was just trying to see if I can purchase parts in the eventuality the printer may fail at later time.
So yes, I’m interested in the mirrors, but the laser we all know will eventually fail and need replacement, however, I’m not in a position to pay the $800 flat repair fee that Formlabs imposes on all out of warranty systems.
That is the reason why myself and others here, would like to be able to buy the laser and replace it ourselves.
I absolutely understand. We definitely don’t want to put people in a position where they can’t use their printers when we can help it. If you’d like to open a support request with us at the link above we’d be happy to discuss getting a few spare parts with you! Not a problem at all.
As for the laser, that’s tougher, and I wish I could provide an easier path forward. It’s not a part that can be replaced in the field for a number of complicated technical reasons, but also we just don’t have any spares around even for internal use.
Additionally, at this time the $800.00 out of warranty repair is no longer an option either for the Form 1+. We’re completely out of spare units ourselves.
Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any other questions.
