Blog post: Introducing the Formlabs Texture Engine for Texturing 3D Models | Formlabs

What other apps like these should we consider developing?

is it possible to import 3MF files with UVs
Thanks

TEXTURES: bricks running bond, stacked bond, random stone surface, wood grains, random surface cracks for say sidewalk models., rusted surfaces, waffles, shoring panels like corrugated and water fast moving.

Sorry for the late reply – not yet, it’s on the “improve” list for the tool.

Hey everyone, just wanted to update this thread and let you all know that the features you’ve been asking for, like Part Hollowing, Drain Holes, Model Texturing, and more, have been added!

Some of Meshy’s limitations had to do with the web browsers and 3D file formats, but the texturing has been implemented directly into PreForm, which will solve a lot of the issues people were coming across on the web application.

Check out the full details in our latest forum post here. Thanks again for all your feedback!

Just playing around for the first time with these textures and wandering… are they additive…subtractive… or neutral in what they are adding or taking away from the part? For instance if tried on tight tolerance assemblies, will they still fit together if I try them?

Update: From what I am seeing they are a little of both so right now assuming this would not work for component parts that will need to fit together. Would be cool to toy with this feature later in particular for our blade scales but it would need to be setup so it does not change, particularly “add”, to the overall dimensional accuracy.

Also it would need to handle “edges” better as right now its “flashing” the edge.

Otherwise this would be a cool tool to have in making different handle textures for our blades…even though yes, we could just do it in the original Fusion 360 design…but sometimes like these scales, they are provided to us by outside contracts/designs and it would be cool to just slap some different bonus textures on there to show off as a added possibility.

Hello dear Formlabs team,
thanks for these amazing tools!
Hollowing and DrainHoles are useful and needed.
I’ll test texturing feature, too.
Many, many thanks and compliments for the great work.
