Formlabs 3B - alumina 4N print crashings

Hello,

We just bought the Alumina 4N resin, with V2.1 tank, steel plate and ceramic wash, everything according to the instructions.

After starting print, the first layer attached to the build plate, but after some layers, the rest got stuck to the resin tank.
Furthermore, the mixing blade detached from the tank, as it hit debris and resin leaked from the resin tank (photos attached).

We can’t really think about what caused that.

Hi @PiotrPiwowarski

Thank you for writing in.
I’m terribly sorry this happened. It is indeed very strange how the mixer managed to slice through the tank film with a layer of the printed material, to be perfectly honest with you: I’ve not seen anything like this in my almost 10 years here at Formlabs.

First things first we need to clean the printer so the resin doesn’t dry/cure in places and causes more damage to the machine.
You can follow this guide, but if you find resin in places you cannot reach very well, we have a guide for cleaning an extensive resin spill (I don’t think that is needed here but just in case I’ve attached that guide to this post as well).

As Alumina 4N can be a bit tricky to work with, I recommend you open a support ticket. If you still have those pieces, we’d be highly interested in what did stick to the build platform, your .form file and the diagnostic logs of your printer.
Easiest for us is if you could head into your printer’s menu → System → Upload Diagnostic Info, this will automatically upload the logs to our server, from where we’ll be able to check what all of the sensors were reading during the print.

Kind regards
Jakob
