I have had my Form 2 for right at over a year. all of a sudden it has been printing very strange. I contacted support and they had me clean the Galvo mirrors, Main Mirror, and the Optical window. after doing all of this, I am getting strange prints still. I have some images here. The main part prints okay (not amazing like it used to) then all of a sudden it creates these weird sliding features as you will see at the tops of each of the parts. Any Ideas???
It is not unusual for the central piece of this print to turn out somewhat “ok” (we can see that the pins and trenches aren’t well defined) and for the corner pillard to still turn out catastrophically wrong. If you look at the print in Preform you’ll se that these pillars are made of several parts stacked together such that is makes the printer pass several times over the same features, with the goal of exaggerating existing issues.
Seeing that all 4 pillars are deformed the same way, I would rule out an optical contamination on the window or the main mirror. While it is easy to see if the optical window and main mirror are clean, it’s much more difficult on the galvo mirrors. I would try to give another go at cleaning the galvos, being extra careful not to damage the papers used to do the cleaning and deposit some more dust (the mirror’s edges are sharp) and maybe ask Formlabs to send you cleaning supplies if you don’t have the adequate material on hand.
If the F2 is like the F1 in optics design there is a small mirror below the galvos that may have some fogging on the outer edges but the center might be fairly clean.
I remember when I had slight haze on the galvos the entire print are produced poor results. Once that optical path starts to hit fixed mirrors and glass then the failures become regionalized.
