Is there a way to customize the distance between the object and mini rafts when set to “None” on the Raft Type? In PreForm, it looks like this distance is plenty but in actual prints, the mini-rafts and object ends up getting fused together and it’s a painful post processing to cut them apart.
You can adjust the thickness of the added layer when selecting “None”, or remove it entirely, by changing the “Z-Compression Correction” setting in PreForm’s advanced support settings. The reason this layer is added when using “None” type rafts is to offset for overcompression that happens during the early layers of every print. When using Full or Mini Rafts, no offset is needed because the overcompression happens in the raft itself.
Thanks Reka! This is the first time I am learning about z-compression. after correlating with my own prints, I realized z-compression makes everything warp no matter how good the drying is, curing etc. Unless the object is thick and solid, I realized printing directly on the build plate is a terrible idea!
I agree that this seems like a straightforward feature to add. However, the reason for the default spacing is likely related to Z-axis compression during the initial layers of the print. This gap helps compensate for that compression, ensuring the first layer of the model adheres correctly to the raft.
