Curing an accidental mix of tough 2000 and silicone

The other day, coworker and I were printing with tough 2000 but then we needed to switch to silicone. As we were swapping the resin tanks and resin bottles, I accidentally left the tough 2000 cartridge out next to the printer. Coworker thought it was the silicone so he poured some into the tank that was already about 3/4 full of silicone resin, to top it off.

I’m trying to cure that contaminated resin so we could dispose of it properly. I’ve tried pouring it into small puck-like containers and running it in the Form Cure but it won’t completely solidify. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi! What an unfortunate mistake. Our advise is to make sure the containers you’re using are UV-transparent (i.e. clear and non-UV blocking), and to try curing the resin with a long curing cycle in the Form Cure - e.g. the curing profile for Tough 2000 Resin.
Hope this helps!

If you have a vacuum chamber, resin will also cure under vacuum. Just be careful about the volume because it would “boil” and bubble and could overflow the container.
