Changing Form1 Name

I recently bought a form1 used and was wondering how i go about changing the name that pops up in preform. Also if there is a way to go through any setup process again it would be good to know how to do that.

The name can’t be changed because it’s the S/N

Hey @Nelsoneaton01 , thanks for your question and thanks @Mario_Martinez for confirming - you can’t change the Serial Names of the Printers. Our printer serial names are something Formlabs has kept since Day 1, in the format of: "AdjectiveAnimal’ across all hardware. We know it’s a little silly but we’ve become so fond of the funky names that spin out and found - it’s just much more fun than a string of numbers ; ) One of my personal favorites along the years: HappyCapybara

Enjoy your Form 1!

To change the name of your Form 1 in PreForm, connect your printer to your computer, open PreForm, and click on “Printer” in the top menu. Select your printer from the list, then choose “Settings” or “Configure” to rename it. To redo the setup process, you might perform a factory reset; consult the printer’s user manual for specific instructions on how to do this, as steps may vary between models. If issues persist, consider reaching out to the manufacturer’s support for detailed assistance.

It can’t be that bad. Mine is MelodicRhea. It’s difficult to say, difficult to remember, and makes me think of musical liquid bowel movements. Now, I know, I know – a Rhea is basically an ostrich, but since I’d gotten it just after having finished the first season or two of Cobra Kai, where the term “Rhea” was used extensively, my brain immediately goes to middle school insults, and thus I’m pretty unhappy with it.

Sigh.

At least the random adjective wasn’t “Dire.” Then I’d seriously make a big stink about changing the practices at Formlabs.

I got expensivesquab. Was hoping to make it something funny. Not a big deal. Got a new print tray for it and it works like a charm, sucks it cost me more than the machine did tho. Spent $100 on the machine $120 on a tray and $90 on resin. Works very well though.

I will be honest, I’ve never heard of a squab before.

I really don’t mind the serial names. A machine I just bought has a particularly silly name, I’m cool with it.

Zebrula is half horse, half zebra.

I’m getting tired of explaining this to people in my office.

Anyone have an octopus for trade?

Speaking of…check out this ChatGPT Formlabs Avatar maker that our North American Sales Leader, Rob, created : ) (btw, he’s a great follow on LinkedIn - he shares really clever workflow content)

Here’s how mine turned out : )
