My printers name sounds like a porn star name… I am not saying this is a bad thing but can I change it? maybe to printer number 1? or my printer? or just something that dose not make people giggle ?

Man I’m dying to know what yours is, but for privacy its probably best not to put it publicly.
My guess is that you cannot change it. It is the actual serial number so when you call in to support they can correctly identify you. Just like some products have serial numbers such as AB12345CD, FL printers follow the format of AdjectiveNoun. If anything, FL support may be able to change it to another AdjectiveNoun combo, but I wouldn’t count on it. Certainly not to Printer #1 or anything generic like that.

Oh well I guess at the price of a form 2 I deserved to get a porn star. It is just a shame I can’t put an image on the dash board next to it to remind me that shes just a machine and can never love me back.

Ah the bitter-sweet pain of unrequited love…
I once had to run 2 Million serial numbers through an obscene word checking program to reject unsuitable 4 letter words. Seems like Formlabs could do with the same checking program.
by the way, the name is also printed on the back of the printer.
My printer has loved me back about 90 times in the form of awesome prints! It has also broken my heart about 5 times due to a failure. It’s a love/hate relationship!

My previous Form2 had a name along these lines…I had to return it due to a hardware malfunction issue (problem with the accelerometers…false leveling issues). Since I no longer have it, I will share its name: HotNewt. That name kinda creeped me out. But I think the creepier thing is the mind that came up with such a name

Please excuse my ignorance, but why is it such a big deal if the public forum knows the name of your printer? Is this a Form2 concern due to the WiFi capabilities? I recall that there was a thread of people designing and printing their machine’s namesake.
With my F1+ I’m fairly certain you can all know its name and would still have to squeeze past me into my cube to troll print phallic objects.
I think I’m missing something.
I actually wondered the same thing. It’s possible it could pose some kind of security issue although you are probably right in that the lengths someone would have to go to just to print to your printer is pretty ridiculous when you actually think about it. I’ll wait for someone from FL to comment to be sure.

I was slightly wrong, the format is actually AdjectiveAnimal (not AdjectiveNoun) and @Brandon_Andrzejewski you are correct in that during the days of the Form 1 & Form 1+ there were many threads about posting your printer’s name and even printing its namesake. I have no idea if something changed with the Form 2 (like you said, maybe re: wireless) or maybe its just paranoia trumped up on the forums!
Man, I wish my printer’s name read like a Porn Star’s name instead of a toddler’s plaything!
