Build Platform not inserted

Since a few weeks im having the problem that the printer doesnt recordnize the Build Platform 2L (the flex one) anymore. it just reports not platform inserted.
When i insert our old V1 platform, it still works, so i think the RFID tag is broken.

I have contacted Formlabs about this, but since its 12 + 2 months old, they are just suggesting that i buy a new €600 platform, to replace a broken RFID tag…

Has anyone else experianced this? Is it safe to turn off platform checking in the printer? Can i transfer the chip from the V1 platform?

I managed to get the tag working for a short while after rubbing it and heating it up for a little. Then managed to read out its contents and write them to a new tag. This solved the problem for me.

HI @consol thanks for reaching out. We’re glad you were able to find a solution. You might have read this in our email that we sent you, but there is a way to turn of Build Platform Detection

  • (Settings > System > Printer details > Subsystems > Build platform detection)

We would always recommend printing with a detected Build Platform, but for out of warranty consumables, this is a good way to continue using them if you’re having issues.
