Build platform is oxidating and mixing with the resin

I have been doing a lot of printing lately with Rigid White and I am now experiencing that the build platform is oxidizing dark grey/black residue. I assume the platform is made from aluminium and this happens because parts of the surface is being worn down and exposed to air and therefore it is oxidizing. Problem is this is mixing with the resin and coloring the resin gray and I think it’s affecting print quality.

I clean the build platform after each print using a paper towel and IPA, nothing else. I’ve had to use the metal scraper a few times to loosen a few stubborn prints.

Anything I can do to make this stop?

Hi @BlackCrane , sorry to hear you’re having issues! What you’re experiencing sounds like aluminum dust that’s been abraded off of the build platform surface by the resin (since Rigid contains glass particles). I know it may be alarming, but printing performance should not be affected by this.

Alternatively, you could try using a stainless steel build platform, which is required for Permanent Crown and Temporary CB Resins, but works with all resin types. It’s a Stainless Steel Build Platform is a corrosion-resistant build platform made with surgical-grade stainless steel.
