Wrung-out Hex Head Cap Screws can be a problem to extract.
You may be able to use a “screw extractor” for this. Basically, a screw extractor (also called an “Easy Out”) is a reverse-threaded screw. So while you turn it counter clockwise to try to remove the hex bolt, you’ll actually be screwing the extractor in to the bolt head. Your local HW store should have this tool if you don’t have one already.
If that doesn’t work, the next thing to try would be to drill out the head completely. You would drill in to the head of the bolt with a drill that’s a little smaller than the bolt head, until you’ve cut deep enough that the head breaks free from the shaft leaving a remaining “stud” behind. Then you ought to be able to get the case off by “bending” it slightly to get past whatever remains of the screw. Once you can get the case off, there should be enough of the body of the screw remaining that you can twist it out with a pair of needle nose pliers.
Great to know about the repair in CA. Do you know where that is? I am having problems with my F1+ and am getting ready to leave Monterey area to go back home in North San Diego county.
My experience exactly. The printer is churning only bad prints int he last months. I am happy I cancelled my order for the form2 when I could.
Initially it was few, then more and now mostly. I worked a lot with support over and over. I have now given up on it. I will keep using all consumables I have (in mostly bad prints) and then decide the fate of this machine.
Sorry about your experience. I had one or two minor issues with the F2 that were quickly resolved. In my case, I am going to stick with the Grey resin, as I have had very consistent results so far.
Yeah. Depends a lot on you, the printer owner. I’m an Engineer by trade, Electrical, Computer, and some Mechanical, so taking apart my Form1+ was actually something I wanted to do (since FormLabs was telling me to do it, it gave me an opportunity to inspect the interior of the printer without unnecessarily risking my warrantee). If you’re not comfortable taking something apart to fix it, like a car engine or your desktop PC, the best option is to send the printer back to FL, I agree…
