I’d like to make this STL of a wargame figure I designed available to the community to test the figure-printing capabilities of the Form 1. This would be a very typical project for designers in the miniatures industry, and if the Form1 can do a good job with it, I think we will all be breathing a sigh of relief and reaching into our wallets!
The figure isn’t perfect, but it will print (at least it has at Shapeways in Frosted Ultra Detail).

Here’s a render of the figure in question.
…after this render was made, all holes were filled, etc.
Forrest did you find someone to do this for you? If not I can add it to my test run tonight.
Hi Lucas,
Sorry–I didn’t see this till this morning.
You’re the first to express interest, and I’d be thrilled to have you try it! The STL sailed through Shapeways last year in Frosted Ultra Detail, so hopefully no technical issues. Please let me know if you need me to tweak something.
I’m working on altering some proportions to suit 28mm sculpting this week. I’m going to give Shapeways another try with more exaggeration of features, etc.
Again, thank you very much, and let me know if I can help in any way.
All the best,
Forrest
Hey Forrest
I did some tests but the camera I have isn’t the best for macros. I’ll try to find another one to get better pics. I printed several. The first batch was a failed because of poor supports. My bad. Then I tried a couple at different settings grey 25 and clear 25. They both turned out pretty well. Some of the smallest details were a little lost but overall it worked pretty well. You might want to go back and clean up the file some. It had something like 500 open triangles… not sure how much that hurt the print.
The tiny details on the eyes and hat crest didn’t turn out very well and the sword and bayonet are a little thin and can get damaged when detaching from the supports. Still looks pretty good, just something to keep in mind. You can get ahold of me at gaius_cassar at Hotmail

Hi Lucas,
Thanks again for printing the figure–I’m really got money burning a hole in my pocket, and I could dispose of some taxable income on a form1 this year:)
If you ever have time, I’d be interested in seeing this with some grey primer sprayed on it. In fact, I’ve heard that priming FUD figures before making a mold smoothes them out a lot.
All the best,
Forrest
I’ll email you something tonight or tomorrow.
