Tough 1500 - Failure mode of print?

Hello -

Recently we have been trying to use Tough1500 resin for a few prints to test out the differences in material properties across the resins that Formlabs offers.

We notice a consistent “failure mode” when printing out of the Tough1500 and were curious if this is something we could prevent with either settings in the print job or maintenance to the printer itself..

We see that the Tough1500 resin prints well except on the surface that the support is attached to. It builds an extra mm or so of material additional to the parts modeled. Attached pictures for discussion.

Looks like the parts were printed at a relatively low angle or even flat relative to the build plate. Try re-orientating to a higher angle and orient such that the difference in printed area between subsequent layers is minimized. You could also potentially print directly on the build platform for parts with a flat face.

Any surface facing the build platform at a shallow angle will have a port outcome. Incline you part so that any surface facing the build platform is at least 20° for better results.
