Another user asked about this a while ago and I thought I would create a blog post to help future users for those encountering broken build platforms, faulty gaskets, or end caps that pop out.
The TDLR solution is to drill a small vent hole at the top of your build platform to prevent internal pressure inside the sealed chamber of air from building up and popping out the end caps

Thank you for sharing your findings! I’ll be sure to share this feedback with our Product Team. Has this only been experienced with Form 3 Build Platforms or also with Form 4 ones?
Hey Henry - not sure, I don’t own any of the Form 4 ecosystem yet…but I would guess that if the design and manufacturing is the same, that this issue might rear its head once in a while.

This happens with all platforms either form2 or form 3, mainly when heavy used.

Does your build platform get completely submerged in IPA or do you leave it sitting in IPA for a long time because that’s the only time its ever happened to me
Nope to either. We do sometimes wash the build plate in the Form Wash as intended, but most of the time we don’t…so this can happen under entirely normal use.
Throughout the 5+ years of owning Formlabs machines, we’ve seen this happen on two build plates. It’s relatively infrequent, but it does happen (you’ll see some other examples on the forum if you do a search).
