Sketchy Tank Reprogramming on 4L

Trying to reprogram a 4L tank from Black to ESD. I’ve done this before with other resins. Typical process:

  • Clean tank thoroughly
  • Install tank
  • Install new resin
  • Upload print
  • Start print
  • Hit ignore when it whines about resin mismatch
  • (typically) next screen will inform that the tank will be programmed but in this case, it just complains about it and warns that resin will not be automatically dispensed

There really needs to be a better way to do this.

Hi Rick, thanks for reporting the issue.

Based on the warning about dispensing, I think that you hit Ignore on a cartridge-job mismatch, not on the tank-job mismatch that would reprogram your tank. Is it possible that the Black V5 cartridge was still in the printer when you started the ESD V1 job?

If you are sure the ESD cartridge was already inserted, could you share the printer’s serial name so we can have a look at the logs? Also, are you on the latest version, 1.17.0?

Definitely had the ESD cartridges in place (and definitely sent as an ESD job) and on latest firmware.

Had a similar issue trying to reprogram Tough 2000 1.1 → Tough 2000 2.0. Finally just gave up and got a new tank.

Note: it still prints fine. There was enough resin in the tank to finish the job. It just won’t dispense when there’s a mismatch. This print job used about 400ml of resin so I just overfilled slightly to be sure.

alright well…this is embarrassing but…
I have a saying that I rarely follow. And this is one of those cases:

“Don’t elminate the correct answer until you test it.”

I eliminated “wrong material selected in Preform”. In my defence, I DID create this job to use ESD. But, upon switching to the printer holding the Black tank, the material was auto-switched to Black.

So, the UI was correctly telling me the material mismatched. Hell, YOU were telling me the material mismatched :smiley:

But, “nah, I’ve done this a million times, it can’t be that.”

yep, it WAS that.

So, went back. Fixed material and indeed Form 4l will reprogram the tank.

Let’s not speak of this again.
