Sift Glovebox Reviews

Thinking of adding this accessory. I’ve read what @LEADNAV has said about the stiff gloves, has this issue been worked out/improved? Any other input on this? Also read that the dampers are too light to take the extra weight of the Glove Box, but perhaps this is an easy fix with upgraded dampers?

I like the idea of further cloistering the powder recovery area, just want some input before I spend the money. Thanks all.

I love the Glovebox addon. I opted to not get the bin as I prefer the bin that came with Fuse Blast. The FUSE1 exhaust creates more powder mess that Sift and Blast combined in my experience.
I found that if you throw the gloves over the hood when open the weight is shifted enough to not be an issue.
I don’t think the gloves are a hinderance, Maybe the sleeve portion is a little bothersome but it’s nothing compared to no longer needing to use disposable gloves for every sift operation.
Especially since 6mil gloves are the thinnest one should use in my opinion.

Since the addon will disable the fan, It means that the big filter would theoretically never need to replaced saving lots of money!

Not having additional glovesizes is a huge mistake. We ordered and the gloves are way to big and rendering it absolute useless for us. Since some of our parts are very small its impossible to clean them as they drown in the gloves.

Ours is still sitting in storage since the day we tried it the gloves just make it way too unusable and we were told that there are zero plans to fix it by Formlabs.

Just skip to minute 23:30 and you will see that even these two, who rarely have anything negative to say, brought up how bad these gloves were

I have thought about trying to just cut the gloves off at the wrists… while wearing our normal thin gloves to just help with dust and/or while trying to use and fill up with the new “trash bags” of powder to try n help with dust.

I may just remove the actual gloves themselves and/or even cut them off very short to just “dust flaps” to help prevent lint, hair or foreign dust into the mix as this is a huge problem now with these trash bags of powder over the original jugs… but until then it has been sitting in the box since the day we tried it due to how uncomfortable those gloves are to use on smaller parts

Hi @SMute ,

Réka from Formlabs Support here. Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. I am not aware of any changes made on the glove box, but I will forward your product feedback to the right team.

funny that some are saying they are too big.

Too small in my case

One thing I noticed is that it seems to create a larger plume which sends more powder into the filter, decreasing its life. Personally, it’s a bit uncomfortable and my hands quickly tire due to the small size and thickness of the gloves.

Love the concept. It’s just not comfortable for me.

this is how old I am.

Stuff like this reminds me of a Flintstones episode where Fred is combing the job listings in the newspaper and he comes across

”Help wanted, person with tiny fingers to put cotton in bottles”

Followed by another ad

”Help wanted, person with tiny fingers to take cotton out of bottles”

Do you use gloves?

My review of the gloves: We them in the Fuse Blast we have at my day job. They make holding and grabbing small parts very difficult, tiring on your hands. Cleaning small parts is even harder. If there was a way to customize the fit of the gloves that would be great. They are bead-blasting gloves which don’t need to be so thick for this task.

Unfortunately we can’t remove it because the glove box is actually working to keep saw and metal dust that is in the same room out of the sift.

At home I don’t use the glove addon at all. I run a air filter right next to the sift that catch anything that might spill out, along with other filters in the room which keep the whole place dust free.
