The last time this question was asked no one had painted a tough resin part and was satisfied with the results.
Is painting on tough resin a bad idea ?

I paint Tough all the time. It takes paint beautifully, though a primer coat is mandatory.
This was printed in Tough, primed with auto-body grey primer, and then painted with flat black Krylon sprayed-on and silver Tamiya enamel brushed-on.

Did you figure this out your self or does Formlabs recommend this “formula” ?

Trial and error. But not a lot. I learned quickly that the resin needed primer and just tried what I had on hand and it worked. Once primer’s on the print it doesn’t matter what paint you apply, it goes on fine.
