I’ve attached some pictures of 2 separate parts that came from within the same print/build chamber. As you can see the differences in detail are huge and I’m wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue and if they found a remedy for it. Both parts we orientated in exactly the same way and were printed using the Speed Optimised Beta settings for Nylon 12.
I have also encountered this issue occasionally, but I have not found a remedy.
I think the location of the part in the chamber can have some effect. For instance, I’ve heard surfaces close to the chamber walls (especially when close to the printer front or hopper side) may cool faster and could be more prone to defects. No idea if this could be the case for your situation but might be something to look at!
Just eyeballing your parts id say the part number and logos could be deeper for better consistency across prints. I think the label feature in preform defaults to .5mmm or thereabouts. These look like 0.1mm or so?
Have you run a bed temp calibration?
Hi @AntHope
Réka from Formlabs Support here. I’m sorry to see your part didn’t come out as expected. Are you familiar with our Model orientation best practices for SLS printing support article? It could give you a few hints how to achieve better results.
In any case, please open a support case, so my colleagues can help you with troubleshooting. Please upload these photos, as well as the .form-file you were printing.
