PreForm - Support functionality enhancements

The new support section is leaps & bounds improved in general!

Hopefully this is self-explanatory. And perhaps I missed a method for this already?

We prototype many VASTLY different items (in terms of shape/size/etc).

So supporting these can have numerous different demands.

Would be really great to have my own preferred support recipe saved there as a pre-baked concoction, for easy retrieval.

Does that option already exist? Options to add a particular config, edit/remove the ones I’ve created, etc.

Also, the ‘auto orient’ seems to return REALLY wacked out build orientations.

It seems to me that an automation-oriented build orientation engine should be biased for either speed of production (lesser layer count) or maximized deck space. both aren’t necessarily exclusive, but those seem to be the opposite ends of the spectrum.

My experience with the auto system has been abysmal - in fact it’s never once turned out an orientation which i believe is optimal… and considering that I’ve had only one single print failure due to orientation (out of >20,000 parts printed and thousands of runs), i believe my own ability to orient isn’t really that bad…

Thanks for your request! I don’t think I have seen this brought up, so I forwarded your suggestion to the responsible team.

Thanks for sharing the feedback @Davidwedge . Glad you’re liking the new improvements.

We have this feature on the roadmap and will share more once there’s a firmed up timeline.

I’ve really liked the support enhancements as well, but in my 7 or 8 years of use, I’ve never used the auto-orient. I check in every now and then, but it’s always a bit off to wildly off. In fairness, for about half my prints, I do 100% manual. Maybe I’m too picky…
