Hi, everyone.
I just noticed that new print settings for PA12 have been released for the Fuse1+ with Preform 3.60.4.
These are labeled “Default v6.0,” while the previous default profile has been renamed “Speed Optimized v5.3.” The v5.3 version suggests that there are no changes here compared to the previous default profile.
We’ve mostly always used the v5.3 settings, with a small adjustment for excess powder in the build chamber.
So the question is, what exactly has changed in the new v6.0 profile?
Unfortunately, I can’t find any information on this—like a changelog of the setting changes or something similar.
Hi @CARLAYERS, thanks for the question! The documentation on this is in progress, but the two main changes are:
- The print setting is slower to help improve print quality, reliability, and reduce powder build up
- The dose angles were decreased to mitigate overdosing issues
If you are happy with v5.3, there is no reason to switch, but the v6 setting was designed to be a more balanced setting for most users.
Hope this helps!
Thank you very much for your reply.
I’m looking forward to the upcoming documentation. The issue with powder overdose at the 5.3 settings is indeed one of the shortcomings we’re struggling with.
We’re already using a setting adjusted as described in the support article to reduce this, though that also slows down the print speed.
The new settings are only slightly slower than the 5.3 settings. But if they cause fewer issues with powder overfill, that would be a definite advantage.
We’ve also placed a focus on surface quality. If the surfaces are even better here and artifacts like dimpling are reduced, we’d be more inclined to switch to this profile. A comparison of surfaces and features would be great here.
