Hello, dear Formlabs forum! Since yesterday I have owned a Form4! Now I have the problem that the surface of my print is not smooth, but has small holes on the surface on the top of the model! I don’t have this problem on the sides of the model! It was the first print with a new tank and a new cartridge of Tough2000 resin. Why are these holes forming on the surface? Otherwise the print is better than on my Form3. There is much less stepping and the edges are much sharper. I have worked with my Form3 for 5 years, so I’m not completely inexperienced. Does anyone know what could be wrong with this?
Can the display be cleaned and if so, what is the best way to clean it?
How many hours on the tank? Did you have any failed prints with that tank? Try printing a cleaning sheet. This happened to one of my prints. Only it was a single hole in the same spot each time. I replaced the tank and that solved the problem.
You can use IPA with a PEC pad to clean the LPU surface.
Hello, first of all, thank you for taking the time to answer! I solved the problem! I hadn’t positioned the object in the Form3 file for the Form4 new! I positioned it with steeper angles and the problem was solved. It seems to me that the Form4 doesn’t cope well with surfaces that are almost parallel to the build platform or have a very flat angle. With a steeper angel of around 30 degrees on the X and Y axes, it worked very well. Thank goodness, I was a little disappointed!

ASA RB 613 Slotcarbody 1/32 built in Fusion360, printed with Tough2000 in 50 Mikron! Printingtime 2.5 H on my new Form 4. Printingtime same file 16 H on my old Form 3
Good to hear that you solved the issue! It may have been caused by air bubbles in the resin tank caused by the mixer arm wiping back and fourth so quickly. If this is common issue, you can go into Print Settings Editor and reduce the speed of the wiper, which would reduce the amount of bubbles that show up. That is also a little hack to get clearer parts with Clear Resin V5, I would imagine it would work well for Grey as well, though it would slightly increase your print times. Let me know if you decide to try it, I’m curious as to how it’ll turn out.
The thing about the speed of the mixer arm sounds very plausible, I will definitely test it on the Clear. Since I am used to printing times of over 10-12 hours, slightly different printing times on the Form 4 should not bother me!
Do I need to change the mixer arm speed settings in Preform or on the form 4?
I made another print and it’s nowhere near as good, even though I used the same angles! It’s really streaky and even has a noticeable step on the roof, which I don’t understand.
I have now reduced the speed of the mixer arm on the Tough 2000 print profile from 600 mm/s to 200 mm/s. I am curious to see how this affects the surface of the printed object. I have also chosen a slightly flatter angle and readjusted the support. I hope the striping is now gone.
what speed did you set the mixer arm to on Clear?
I don’t think the user specified, but you can experiment with the speed and see what’s a good speed tradeoff for your exact application.
Just heard back, try using 600mm/s for the wipe speed and 250 mm/s for the wall approach speed. And you can adjust from there! Good luck!
Hello, I had now set the mixer arm speed to 200 mm/s on Tough2000. The result is much better, but still not 100%

May not be your problem, but easy to do: level your build platform.
