Fusion360 bug?

Hi -

I updated my Firmware and Preform today as well as Fusion360. After this update there seems to be a bug in the 3D print workflow.

When Preform is already open, clicking on a body and choosing to 3D print it, sends you to Preform but no model is exported. The only way I can get it to work, is to ensure that Preform is NOT OPEN. Clicking on 3D print and selecting the body, it then opens Preform and exports the model but only after complaining about there model being broken and needs to repair it.

Is anybody else experiencing the same issue?

Regards, Friedl. -

Hi @Friedl_1977 thanks for letting us know - sorry you’re experiencing that. We’ve let both the Fusion and PreForm teams know and they’re looking into this and will followup with what we learn.

Hi @verdugod -

No problem, hope it helps other users as well.

Friedl.

A question - what Operating System are you using? Our teams are trying to recreate your experience (on Mac) but not having luck yet.

Hi -

OSx 14.6.1 (23G93)

I just checked, still the same.

To confirm, it is only a problem if Preform is already running in the background. Whether I use the “3D print” command, or “save as mesh” the problem persists.

If however Preform is closed at the time doing this, it opens and model is loaded. It was working just fine until about two days ago. There was a Preform update, Fusion update as well as a firmware update.

Friedl

Hey @Friedl_1977 the great product folks at Autodesk are aware of the issue - which is isolated to Mac - and working on a fix. Thanks again for flagging!

HI @verdugod -

There is another (quite extensive) thread where me and some other users are trying to figure out how to print with the Form4. To be honest, at this stage I am reverting back to my Ultimaker as I cannot in good conscience charge aliens for SLA printed parts that look like the ones below:

Thanks for connecting the dots on your feedback @Friedl_1977
For anyone else reading, here’s the thread @Friedl_1977 is mentioning if you want to join the discussion: Best orientation for dimensional accuracy? - #71 by br4n_d0n

For all using the fusion x formlabs workflow, do keep the feedback coming as well as Formlabs product feedback. As I mentioned above we work very close with our CAD partners (Autodesk, Solidworks, Onshape, etc) to make sure the combined workflow helps you bring your ideas quickly to life.
