Fuse+1 Optical Cassette

Hi all!

Just wondering if anyone has had the issue shown in the image above. This speckling is on the INSIDE (laser side) of the optical cassette, is always in roughly the same place and is effecting print quality. It happens on a couple of our other machines to a lesser degree but it is always the same machines. Anyone had this happen and found a cause and/or solution?

Ive not seen this with mine, ever. Do you clean both surfaces? I almost never clean the inside surface, only when there are obvious issues with it which is very rare. I blow off any dust with one of those bulb dusters. Mostly just the ethanol on the chamber side and a wipe down, alconox if it starts looking hazy around the edges which is every 5-7 prints or so.

Are you able to clean it off using the procedures outlined by Formlabs?

Hello, I am not a Fuse 1+ owner but I came across a similar looking pattern in an older post . It may be conjecture but I think it is worth looking it into -

No, I’m the same as you. Only ever clean the inside if it 100% needs it (like in the image) and only ever use Alconox if there’s hazing (usually once per week).

It does come off once cleaned but as it seems to be happening early on in the print, it is effecting the print quality.

Have you checked your upper laser window? My first Fuse, the adhesive used on the window would break down into a clear liquid. It never dripped down but it did make its way into the laser path and messed up some prints. I wonder if yours is having this issue and its dripping onto the optical cassette. A new window with presumably an updated adhesive fixed the issue.
