The Form3B+ I recently inherited is getting stuck at the Filling stage when I send it a print job. It has been trying to fill for at least half an hour. The mixer just wipes back and forth and the machine does not dispense anymore resin. I filled the tank up manually so that the bobber is bobbing to its maximum distance when the mixer wipes towards that side. The tank fill sensor had the calibration run this morning, and the cap to the resin is open. There is resin left in the cartridge. Resin flows through the bite valve when I squish it with my fingers. I even purged a little to remove a blockage if there was one. The resin cartridge was shaken before printing.
My questions:
*During the filling stage is resin supposed to be dispensed?
*In what scenario would resin not be dispensed during the filling stage?
*How does the machine recognize the tank is full if it is not by the bobber bobbing to the maximum?
*Is there a way to circumvent the filling stage so that the print can progress?
Hello @Mason_Ronn, and thanks for posting your concerns about your new-to-you Form 3B+ resin dispensing. Filling for a half an hour does seem out of the ordinary, and we’d love to help investigate it for you. Here’s some answers to your questions you had.
During the filling stage is resin supposed to be dispensed?
Maybe! in the pre-print process the resin is being heated and coming up to temperature, the 3B+ is measuring the amount of resin in the tank and determining if more resin should be dispensed. No resin may dispense.
In what scenario would resin not be dispensed during the filling stage?
If the 3B+ determines that there is enough resin in the tank.
How does the machine recognize the tank is full if it is not by the bobber bobbing to the maximum?
The tank float and the level sensing board is the mechanism to determine this. ‘Maximum’ full is not required, and may fill differently print to print.
Is there a way to circumvent the filling stage so that the print can progress?
There is likely something else at work here that our support staff would like to investigate with you. Would you be willing to start that contact with my team so we can help get you up and printing?
