Enclosure & Air Filtration for Formlabs SLA, Wash & Cure

Hey everyone,

Managing resin VOCs and IPA evaporation, especially when opening Wash lids is a constant challenge in shared lab spaces.

We wanted to share a quick look at a custom enclosure setup we designed for Safran in France to house their Formlabs printers, Wash, and Cure stations:


Key features we integrated for safety & air quality:

  • Air Extraction: Negative pressure for IPA & VOC capture.

  • UV Safety: Opaque/UV-blocking panels to prevent ambient light curing inside the enclosure.

  • Safety Integration: Built-in smoke detectors and fire safety setup.

  • Lab Organization: Lower shelving for bulk resin and IPA storage.

Looks great!

Just a warning - if those panels aren’t actually rated to block out 405nm (ie. they’re just plain acrylic or PC) - it’s going to let 405nm UV through. Most standard acrylics and PCs are great for blocking a lot of lower wavelength UV but it will still let a lot of 405nm through. I’ve tested this before with a 405nm UV meter.

For those who have less budget and time, using an off the shelf grow tent also works great and is what I’ve done in my space.
