Enabling Custom Squish

We’ve been having some dimensional issues with our Form4B (material: BioMed Clear V1) at work and one of the settings that I want to change is the ‘Squish Wait’. But when ever I enable Custom Squish, without changing any other settings, the build platform makes contact with the bottom of the resin tank and causes a ‘debris in resin tank’ type error.

Has anyone else run into this issue with Custom Squish?

Hi @CCWP, can you confirm the values for the squish profile used? Is it a constant deceleration?

Squish values are Formlabs default Custom Squish:

Squish Deceleration: 500.0mm/s²
Early Layer Squish Height Cutoff: 1.0mm
Early Layer Squish Wait: 90.0s
Max Squish Speed: 60.0mm/s
Squish Wait: 22.0s

Thanks for sharing your settings! The issue you’re seeing is likely caused by the Squish Deceleration value being too high. Right now, 500 mm/s² is the default when enabling Custom Squish, but that value is more suited for a different squish mode.

For Constant Deceleration, a much lower value is needed. I’d recommend starting with 5 mm/s² and adjusting from there. If you still see issues, lower it further. If things are stable, you can try increasing it slightly for efficiency.

The rest of your settings look reasonable, so I’d focus on adjusting Squish Deceleration first. Let me know if this helps!

I turned it down to 1mm/s² and that worked! Currently tuning it to the fastest the machine can handle. Thank you!

You’re very welcome! I’m glad you were able to find something that works, and hopefully if someone has similar issues in the future they’ll stumble upon this thread
