Do drain holes need to be orientated so that resin can leak out during printing, or is it acceptable for them to be orientated in any direction? Do they just allow the resin to be removed post print?
In other words, do I need to point the drain holes towards the resin tank or not?
Not really - I don’t bother with holes to drain resin, holes to prevent a vacuum forming is different. I always try to have 2 holes, orientated toward the build plate, when you do the IPA bath any resin left inside will wash out.
Gives you a bit more flexibility when positioning the model in the software and makes the IPA bath easier because the air can be displaced more easily if it has somewhere to go.
