Castable Wax 40 Resin / Burnout Cycle Cacluations

Has anyone else had good results using Formlabs burnout schedule for the Castable Wax 40 Material? Overall we get decent results using our our burnout, but looking to take it up a notch and hoping their burnout is even better.

I am about to try the burnout cycle provided by Formlabs, but I ran into a snag. My oven control system runs heat rate is by the hour. Not per minute so I had to do some calculations. I posted them below, but please double check my work before using. I haven’t used it at time of this post.

Hi @GenuineArtisan thanks for sharing your question. I discussed this with one of our casting experts on our Services team and they shared that the ramp times are derived from the ramp rates. What you need to do is multiple the °F/min by 60(min/hr) to get the °F/hr rate. You’ll have to factor in the temperature the oven is already at vs starting from 0.

It should look something like this:

  • Ramp 1: FULL / 131° / 3 hrs
  • Ramp 2: 216°/hr (3.6°/min*60) / 302° / 3 hrs
  • Ramp 3: 216°/hr / 572° / 3 hrs
  • Ramp 4: 432°/hr / 1350° / 3 hrs

Hope this helps!
