I just started seeing a very strange “debris detected” message that I can’t explain - the build plate is completely clean. The really concerning part is that the mixer seems to be hitting the flex plate because the whole build plate is not parallel with the rest of the printer’s horizontal plane. Has anyone seen anything like this? I have removed and reattached the build plate several times to try and make sure it wasn’t a freak misalignment but now I can’t tell where the misalignment is.
On top of the cover, whole printer is levelled:
Build plate:
Have you aligned the build plate using the Align Buildplate feature several times or just removed and reattached the build plate?
I had not - I didn’t realise the bed could become so misaligned without permanent damage. I’ve been through the Align Buildplate process and it seems to have fixed it - thank you for drawing it to my attention. I was a bit worried the alignment shims would be somewhere in the box in our warehouse but fortunately Formlabs sensibly thought to put them in the toolkit mounted in the printer.
Interestingly, there is not significant discussion of “align buildplate” or misalignment on the forum. I did search before making my post as I would expect others to have had a similar issue. I thought I’d record why I think my buildplate became misaligned, in case it helps people in future.
I originally assumed the peel force had caused the issue but now I think it was the bed pushing down on one side more than the other during the failed print which preceded the wiper/debris errors leading to me noticing the misalignment. What confuses me is that I think the parts which got stuck to the tank film are even height on either side. But I have discarded them now so cannot be sure.
Is this an error you get mid print or when you start the print?
Also, what do your parts which you’re trying to print look like?
I’ve had some weird experiences with false debris errors as described in my video here https://youtube.com/shorts/h_bBWz8Ic38?si=feztaN3qz24oo4UZ
The first thing to do is run BP alignment as suggested up top though.
BP alignment fixed it thanks. It was a build-on-plate of 14 rectangular cross-section items in a 2x7 grid. The prior print failed around 2 mm high as some parts stuck to the film. Usually I can remove all failed and partially cured resin and restart the print. This time when I restarted, the mixer was hitting the BP on the left side because it was notably lower there than on the right.
Yeah that makes sense. BP alignment usually fixes those types of issues, glad you got it working!
