Best Practices for Optimizing Prints with Formlabs Resins

Hi everyone,
I’ve been working with different Formlabs resins and experimenting with ways to optimize print quality while also reducing waste. I’m curious about how others here approach:

  • Adjusting print orientation for strength vs. surface finish

  • Balancing layer height with print time

  • Post-curing setups that work best for consistency

  • Tips for resin storage and extending material shelf life

Another aspect I’ve been exploring is how final designs are shared once the printing is done. Clear presentation can make a big difference when showing projects to clients or teams. I came across here that takes an interesting approach to organizing and presenting design work, which made me think about ways to better showcase 3D models alongside physical prints.

Time for printing is the last priority for me, dimensional accuracy and minimizing post processing are my main considerations. For the most part, I allow preform to auto-orient for me unless I have a mating surface that I cannot post process and needs to fit right off the build plate (so to say). Only unless the auto orient messes with my two priorities, I’ve had a good amount of success

I’ve recently paid close attention to the orientation so that the final piece, including the raft, is compact and won’t risk breaking at fragile spots.
