Using a brush to clean dust from Mirrors?

The only thing the Novus is used for is the clear plastic bottom of the resin tank. Still doesn’t hurt to polish up the cabinet nice and shiny

I’d like to think all the mirrors are dust free so I can eliminate any issues. At the moment I’m getting these problems. Could be dust on mirrors or not Great prints, though some abnormal areas?

Interesting that you have brought up that topic.
I made a video on that today and am trying to upload it here on the Forum.
No video format allowed, so I asked tech support who is usually very helpful.
Don’t use this type of brush - the only type I’d recommend is called a KOLINKSY brush. Those are not cheap but won’t scratch your mirrors.
I hope I can get that video up here. It’ll clarify a few things.

Cool, maybe a youtube link if all else fails?

I got my Giottos air blaster today. This thing has power!! Much more than my airbrush compressor. Will test it in the week. Hopefully means I wont need to use the pec pad

Giottos air blaster rocks! Blew dust straight off. Though I get in there with a mini hoover as sometimes it lands back on the mirror.

Here is the video on how to safely and thoroughly clean your mirrors and also the inside compartment - this is to get it DUST FREE, not removing accidental drops of resin.
Pec-Pads should not be used on the mirrors for simply removing dust (I know most of you guys know that).

Great! Thanks

Very helpful, exactly the technique i was going to try. I did not have a brush specification though. Thanks
I might have to print a custom end for my vacuum though. Just because we can.
Also I was wondering about positive pressure in the lower case whenever the lid was opened.
Those of us who have a plant air compressor would be able to supply the lower case with clean air.

That or I could just always make sure I wear clothing that isn’t full of sawdust when I’m working on the form1+

You are correct. A can of compressed air will spray out some oil or chemical that is impossible to get off the mirror. Ask me how I know! I had to replace the mirror. The closest I got to getting the film off was by scrubbing with a PEC pad so hard that it scratched the mirror surface.

Or you could use a squirrel hair brush: http://www.amazon.com/Vinci-Russian-Squirrel-Thickness-Paintbrush/dp/B00409JBIY/ref=sr_1_26?ie=UTF8&qid=1433515578&sr=8-26&keywords=squirrel+hair+brush
this one is even softer. You can use it with electrostatic charge by moving it over wool. it will gather fine dust very well. and then clean the brush cearfully it with a vacuum cleaner. I use it.

I’ll say it again… Giottos air blaster! Will blast air hard and get rid of any large bits of dust on the mirror without touching the surface. I also stick a hoover in there after to suck up the loose dust.
