Hi all, my supports keep fusing into the surface of my part and leave a rough, pitted face after removal (see photos). I’m printing on a Formlabs printer with Color Kit, Adaptable layers. Touchpoint size 0.10 mm.
Is my orientation (mostly flat) the culprit?
What touchpoint size/density and angle do you recommend to avoid this on broad, flat areas?
Thanks for any quick tips or example PreForm settings!
Oh boy, there is something wildly off here outside of orientation. Supports should not look that rough in general and the roundedness of the foot at the bottom tells me something went wrong immediately if this is from a Form3 printer. Get in touch with Formlabs support.
Kristen here with Formlabs Services here. Color Kit resin is only meant to be printed with the pigment in it. The pigment itself contains the photo initiators and this is what will ensure a clean print and support structure. If you are not going to add pigment to the resin, I would recommend trying a general purpose resin like white to conduct your printing. If after adding pigment to your color kit or swapping out the resin, I would recommend reaching out to Formlabs support. We would be able to look into the diagnostic logs of the printer, as well as the .formfile to give you any tips and trips to achieve prints that are more satisfactory.
