Suction effect comparison between Formlab 3B+ vs 4

Hello, before jumping to the new model, I would like to know how the Formlab 4 handle suction effect having a flat exposure surface in comparison to flexible formlabs 3+.
Let me show these perfect examples build without support and custom profiles on hightemp.

I have the chance to play for months on other brand printer with 14K mono resolution, but it cannot handle cup suction not even close to formlabs 3b+. And I suspect formlabs 3+ can handle better because the flexible fep + raster, Am I right ?

Cheers

From my experience the Form 4 seems to handle cups a bit worse than the Form 3 - which is also reflected in Preform, where the cupping algorithm flags cups that would otherwise not be flagged on the Form 3 in Preform.

Practically speaking though, I haven’t done an in depth comparison between them so I don’t really know exactly how much worse it is.

Hey @glococo , thanks for your question! You can enable a feature called “Cup Mitigation” using PreForm settings editor to significantly mitigate cup issues. This will slightly slow down your print, though with this feature enabled the Form 4 is still much faster than the Form 3!

You can learn more about PreForm Print Settings Editor here and what Cup Mitigation is below:

Hope this helps, don’t hesitate with more questions!

Not always possible depending on geometry, but you can add small vent holes (down to 0.5mm) in the offending areas.

Nice to know there is a setting for improve cups.
Thanks for sharing this feat.

For sure, let us know if you have anymore questions.

I didn’t know this existed. Would love for this to be a toggle on the main UI rather than in print setting editor!

Noted! thanks for the feedback!

Also - does this feature slow down the entire print? Or only on the areas where cups are present?
