I have an intermittent problem where about half-way through a print job I start hearing a groaning noise when the resin tray is tensioned.
At first I thought maybe this was the more common problem where the x-axis screw needed lubrication, but after cleaning and lubing it several times, the problem keeps coming back. Moreover, my prints are not failing.
Looking at old threads I see a “clean the tensioner sensor magnet” suggestion. Does anyone have a picture of this? After a little googling-around all I see is pictures of the tensioner motor and its gears. I could imagine this might be a problem since occasionally I’ve had excessive grease on the x-axis screw. . . and maybe grease has fallen on that sensor but given I don’t know what it looks like (is it visible without disassembling the printer?) I’m not sure what to look for.
@rybu I agree with @SteamFactoryLLC in trying a different, preferably new, resin tank. If you still have the issue, it could be the tensioner itself. There isn’t a sensor that you can swap out. It’s measured in time and distance to tension the tank. The tank is tensioned 3 times during a print. The initial time after it checks the optics when the print starts. Then again after layers 4 and 10 to adjust the mirrors in the LPU if necessary, to account for drifting.
The easiest way for us to diagnose this is with a video. I suggest opening a support case and uploading a video so that we can determine the best next steps. Also, knowing if this is a Form 3 or a Form 3L will make a big difference in what steps we can take.
It appears its not the tensioner. I was a little confused because the groan was only happening (I thought) after the LPU swept fully to its “station”. But I cleaned and lubed the LPU positioning screw one more time, and the groan has vanished.
I should have suspected this was the issue since cleaning and lubing the screw greatly diminished the groan, earlier.
