I’m pretty sure it’s a 3D printer of some kind base on their URL:
That’s actually a pretty good guess IMO, I’d still be more excited about an SLS metal printing machine but the name would make sense for a ceramic oven and it would integrate better with Formlabs current line of printers.
Did anyone listen to their podcasts on YouTube? Max gives a very good hint that it is going to be a production machine rather than a prototyping machine.
I must confess that I was so overwhelmed by the lack of understanding of the industry and general lack of substance in Bassi’s discourse that I must have missed Max’s remarks, was it in the 2nd issue of the podcast ?
I had to listen to it a second time, thanks for the reminder! Now I’m more excited of the new printer. Hopefully it won’t be expensive compare to the Form2.
He mentions materials and production machines.
Hi there,
In my opinion, it will be definitivly using formlabs resin or a different kind of resin but, more sure about the same than form2 with maybe an additive.
For the printer itself, for sure not sintering ( not Formlabs field since the beginning ) but it could be ::
- DLP printer with a custom projector
- or an “industrial” SLA printer, more accurate, more faster than the Form 2 ( i’m dreaming about a new tank solution than actual ) .
What do you think about that ?
Cheers
Is it superstition though? The Form2 launch event was held in September but it wasn’t release until November. Now we see the same thing with the FormCure and FormWash, they announce it already but won’t ship until October. I’m just trying to keep my expectation in check regarding the actually release date of Fuse 1 basing it on history.
I don’t think the Fuse 1 has anything to do with resin or SLA. It’s been mention before in this thread:
"The future of Formlabs isn’t just about stereolithography and the Form 2"
It sounds like a completely different machine with a different additive process.I think the partnership with Desktop Metal isn’t just for show, maybe they license similar technology for the Fuse 1. So I still think it’s some sort of powder base printer. In the youtube podcast Max mention they plan on releasing a few things( I’m thinking a programmable kiln) , probably things related to the Fuse 1, I don’t think he was referring to the FormCure and FormWash.
Anyway we’ll find out in 2 days. BTW everyone the Fuse 1 event starts at 11:30 AM EST, make sure to convert it for your time zone
“The future of Formlabs isn’t just about stereolithography and the Form 2”
Sorry, firs time that i read it !!!
Really exciting about it, maybe something turning around powder printer … The 4th desktop sls printer could be great.
Let see in 2 days
That’s the time for me to sell my Form2 !!!
This is what I’d like to see. An automated plastic mold injection machine to create models for an on-demand production.
I have both the Ultimaker 3 and Form2, I might sell my UM3 for a Fuse 1 depends if the Fuse 1 can replace it.
@Demetrio, nice !
This image seems to confirm it’s something related to powder that’s a strong looking hinge:
If not an SLS machine how about a vacuum casting machine?
It would compliment the Form2 and any ongoing SLA tech perfectly also another revenue stream on a new range of consumables?
But the name FUSE na that would be FLOW?
I really think that is all about clean/ afordable SLS printer.
FDM… is a step backwards!
Well, its been announced. $9999 for machine, several thousand more for the rest of the stuff.
Strong and flexible black nylon powder. Interested in cost of materials.
You want to load as many parts as possible to take advantage of build volume and no structural supports.
Love it that they have a $1,000 reservation plan and you can cancel at any time.
Would like to know about cost of materials and any future plans on materials.
Looking forward to online broadcast in an hour.
I also want to know about materials pricing.
Info on the post processing part would be nice also considering the following pricing:
Fuse 1 $9999
Post processing + support plan + build chamber + nylon 12 $10000
Not gonna lie, kinda pricey, If its worth it I would have to sell both of my printer…
Cheered me up some, I was afraid that I’d be disappointed if Formlabs released an SLS for a low cost as that’s what I really wanted (a desktop SLS) prior to deciding to get the Form2…
The Sinterit Lisa was just too much of a stretch for me financially and the Fuse1 is in the same ball park so now happy I still made the right decision.
I found the keynote to lack so much information about the machine and what kind of powder they plan on supporting. How strong is the laser, what kind of laser is it?
agreed need to know materials … accuracy etc …
hoping for precious metals tho i doubt it will come to be.
