The old sensor was in good condition, but they replaced it to see if that was the problem. The new one is also in good condition.
Alrite. Then im sorry that i can´t be of any further assistance. I really hope you get it solved.
How old is the printer? How many hours has it got? Did you buy it from Formlabs/Retailer or did u buy it used?
Thank you, we hope to resolve this soon.
I think the printer is about 5 or 6 years old, with 365 hours of use. It was purchased new through a retailer
@mlopez1 were you ever able to find a resolution to your global melting issue? I have the same thing and have replaced the typical items. FormLabs support ultimately suggested I spend $12k to send mine back to them and they would send me a refurbished unit but I would rather just keep mine and not spend the $12k. Mine melts the powder after about 3 inches of thickness.
@adamcapps Good morning, Adam. After replacing all the machine components (those mentioned above, as well as the motor and temperature control boards), the technical service we hired took the machine away and left us with a used one so we could continue working. When they had repaired it, they sent it back to us. It was there for two months, and they returned it to us recently without giving us much information about the cause of the breakdown, only that it was due to electrical noise. They did not give us any further information, but it seems to be working perfectly now.
Hi Guys, any updates on this topic? I am also suffering from Global melting. the printer have had almost everything, Air Heater-RTD issues, Galvos - Galvos board changed, IR Sensor-Flow body swapped already. I am really super tired, I am producing with two fuses and half of the time one is out of service with some issue. This is really affecting our workflow. Support is not really helpfull.
This time everything started with the exhaust fan running too fast all the time, for a couple of prints it was fine but then it began with the global melting issue. According to FL support the fuse is reading pressure too low and therefore is the fan at full speed. It is not showing any warning/error message.
I´ve swapped the MoTemBo, reflashed the firmware, set a new bed temp offset, swapped IR sensor and checked for leacks on the aluminium hoses. Nothing…
My patience is gone, the backlog is rising and support knows nothing.
I did not have any luck repairing my printer, I also replaced almost all the components you mentioned. Fortunately, I had the service plan through Formlabs and they gave me a full Fuse 1+ replacement after sending a tech out to try and repair it. I never got an update on what the issue with the machine was, but it seemed nearly impossible to diagnose and resolve it. If you have the service plan or any sort of warranty I would push for a FL tech to come out and look it over. If they can’t fix it, you’ve at least got solid evidence that could lead to a replacement or some form of support/reimbursement from Formlabs. Best of luck, hope you can get it fixed soon
Shit, now imagine that happening on the new flagship… I’ve read and know about real terror stories with Stratasys, 3d systems and HP. Millionaire investments turned into paperweights.
This is like DeJa Vu from my first Fuse printer, while attempting to print Nylon 12 GF for over a year and after a Formlabs firmware update my Fuse “cooked itself” Literally every print chamber became a solid brick, the chamber beds got so hot they turned from black to red and the bulbs kept burning out.
After months of dealing with it Formlabs finally allowed me to “upgrade” paying the difference and they sent me a new Fuse 1+.
I had a full year long thread about this but I believe it got the “scrub” off the forum since it’s been so long.
At that time, the funny thing was Formlabs was still pushing a “30-50%” refresh rate for nylon 12 GF and had stated that the chamber offset temp setting did not actually do or change anything for Nylon 12 GF…but this depended on which rep you spoke too.
Most of all those problems went away…when we gave up on Nylon 12 GF and went to Nylon 12.
I don’t think we will hear much on the forum about it but I can’t wait to hear from any real world users of the new X1.
Interested to see how the early beta tester…I mean customers…do with it! Haha
