Form 3L Issues

I am hearing the “gears slipping” sound too with our 3L during printer initialization/preparation. Did you ever figure out exactly what that was? Its a horrible sound and it does it with multiple trays.

Thanks

Yes, I got this from the formulas support:

I got a reply from our engineers. They explained to me that the problem appears to be with the mixer coupler. It seems that the motor that drives the magnets on the LPU up to grab the mixer is trying to travel way too far. The good news is that is a cosmetic issue and does not affect the print quality or the printer in any negative way.
We are already working on a solution, and this issue should be solved with the next firmware update.

So it not linked to issue, but it appears to be mostly harmless.

Apparently V2 tanks suffer from the same “First Fill Date” bug:

This one was manufactured less than 3 months ago, way after the bug was widely discussed. I first reported it to LF back in April.

Oh no! This is bad news. Hard to understand why. Do you see a physical difference with this V2 tank version? Do you see improvements since the last firmware update?
I must say that I didn’t print much since a while.

Yesterday I have received this big unit for curing:

Phrozen Cure Mega | Curing Lamp for Resin 3D Printing – Phrozen Technology (phrozen3d.com)
Next month, I will receive the Mega 8K too…

I would like to install something to add heating in this curing chamber. I don’t know what for now.

Billucas,

When you get a chance i’d like to hear some feedback on that curing unit. I have been interested in it for quite sometime but i am too curious how it will work without heat.

Titon,
For the price of this unit (exept shipping prices) this is a great deal. Nice finish and look, this is also well made. Yes, with Formlabs resins we need heat. I a looking to add mabe a lamp or kind of reptile mat inside with thermostat or temp regulator. Or if someone has a better idea is welcome!

With the 3L i have backed away from it’s use much since i need a curing unit especially i love using the tough resins. Without the larger format curing unit i have not printed much larger stuff.

I might have to try this unit.

I understand.
“The preliminary pricing for Wash L and Cure L has been set around $3000 and $4000 USD, respectively.” Told by FL 6 months ago. I would love to have them, but for me it was a bit too pricey. This is why I bought this Phrozen Cure and also a ultrasonic cleaner 30L. Maybe later I will buy them. But not sure.

That’s just insane!

  1. Formlabs Wash V2 with a 50$ second hand industrial stirrer underneath
  2. Secondhand 250$ incubator + 50$ UV lamps + a few $ from the hardware store…

Now that’s cool!

I have not gone with figuring out a curing unit yet but i did get myself a stand alone parts washer that i can get from my store. $150 US and it comes with a hose and motor to pump the ISP. Works pretty good!

The curing unit is next in some copacity

Thx.

The incubator is excellent as its especially focussed on keeping stable low temperatures. It’s also only 250W. Heats up quick to 60 degrees and the UV lamps do the final 10. The UV lamps are on a timer so I can set the curing time what is needed.

My Form 3 also recently started making this noise. I first thought something was breaking but it seems to keep printing and have done maybe a dozen prints using clear V4 since hearing the sound the first time.
