Fast Model Resin - Form 4/4L

Been looking for any user reviews on formlabs Fast Model Resin couldn’t find too many. Anyone willing to share their experience printing with formlabs Fast Model resin?

  • Any difference in color to grey v5
  • How is support removal from this material? (IE easy to remove supports, does it leave alot of left over support touch points)
  • What do layer lines look like at .1mm vs 2mm any noticeable differences other than print time?
  • Any specific features or orientations to avoid when printing with this material
  • If you experienced any failed print jobs using this material.

Thank you in advance!

Just bumping this post to see if anyone shares - I’m curious as well

Hey! I’m not on the materials team but I’ve printed a fair bit with Fast Model Resin for personal projects.

  1. Color is lighter than Grey V5. Here is a photo.

  2. Support touch points are a little larger because the printing is a lot faster and the peel forces are more aggressive, so the contact tips lean larger to ensure they don’t break during printing, but nothing drastic enough that a few minutes with a blade/sandpaper wouldn’t fix.

  3. I assume you mean 0.1mm and 0.2mm—For drafting purposes and to take advantage of the main advantage of Fast Model Resin, (speed) I usually use 200 micron. The 100 micron looks good if I want to print a better version and I’m too lazy to switch my tank from Fast Model to Grey V5, and for most of my use cases it performs just as well.

  4. Large cross sectional changes you’ll want to avoid. So a big change in cross sectional area from one layer to the next will create very large peel forces at the speed you’re printing at. Placing flat faces at an angle or directly on the Build Platforms should help for most cases.

  5. Only if I try and push the limits of having smaller or less dense support tips, the default settings have usually treated me well if I need reliability and speed.
