Anyone else running this with their Blast? If so how has it worked out for you? I just got mine installed and plumbed in, and man its quiet! Online reviews seem to have mixed feelings about this compressor, mostly centered around the earlier units from 2017-2020 or so. Wondering how maintenance and reliability has been with it if you are running one currently.
I’ve been using this compressor with my Blast. Had a bad malfunction when it first started up (capacitor exploded) but no major problems since. The noise level is a huge benefit, and it keeps up well even with the Polishing upgrade (60psi vs 30psi). The Blast typically needs to pause and wait for the compressor to catch up once during my cycle (60psi 15 minute polish, 20psi 3 minute rinse). This is not a big deal for my process as it only adds a few minutes.
Maintenance has been fairly simple. I empty and drain the tank at the end of every day. I’ve tried draining the water from the oil tank, but I haven’t seen any water come out yet. I’m also using the Eastwood CFS with the moisture separator/desiccant upgrade.
Interesting about the cap exploding. One of the fittings on mine started leaking oil. I was able to re seat it but it still seeps a bit so I contacted Eastwood about it. They are shipping out a new fitting. Their support seems good so far. I really cant believe how quiet it is, sounds like a window AC starting up.
I also installed the complete air filtration system and desiccant pack, but ended up using a different regulator since the original only outputs 50 SCFM max. I don’t know if this was necessary but I did full 1/2 inch hose from the compressor to dryer, and 3/8 from the regulator to the Blast.
Waiting on media to arrive at Grainger to fully test the whole system.
We’ve got very similar setups; I also went with a different regulator and used entirely 1/2-inch hose and pipe too. I’m also not sure if it was necessary, but I felt like it was worth oversizing. I definitely have had no complaints on their support, it seems like they resolve problems quickly.
We purchased our 30/60 right before they introduced the automated moisture drain. We had a capacitor let go in April, and they could not get a new set of Caps and Controller (their recommended fix) to us until early June. Their tech department was awesome, since we are still under warranty, they shipped a full replacement compressor with the automated drain. We’ll be hawkish on maintenance and daily tank-drains, but this thing is awesome for low-noise and keeping up with our Fuse Blast.
I got to run a chamber of parts through the blast and I’m really loving it.. Amazingly it even cleans the interior walls of my hollow cone shaped parts.
The compressor did its part, only struggling a bit when I tried out the aggressive cycle. I found for my part geometries 35-40psi is needed to get all the hidden areas.
This whole setup will save me hours and hours of work.
