Second day of using our new Form 4, and nothing but great results so far.
However, it struck me that the resin levels in dashboard seem completely wrong. For example, we have printed only with 1x 1L bottle of Grey V5 so far, and have printed only 347mL.
Dashboard though shows us as having used 454mL. Spent some time trying to understand why, and we aborted 2 jobs, before they even started (during the pre-heat phase, tank was already full). Dashboard is therefore adding up the resin of those aborted jobs, as if the jobs had actually proceeded.
So all in, this leaves me a little confused around dashboard material counting.
We’ve printed 347mL, there’s 200mL in the tank according to the level indicator, which should leave 547mL in the cartridge, but dashboard is already warning us that there is only 200mL left, which cannot be correct. Of course there’s probably 5-10mL gone missing into the wash, but not several hundred.
Which leads to another question, is the material remaining in Dashboard, the same as what the Form 4 is actually sensing? I.e. how do I see how much resin the machine thinks it has in the tank + cartridge?
Generally, Dashboard somewhat rounds up resin consumption when displaying the low resin warning, and you can continue printing without worrying that the cartridge will get blocked.
The resin level estimate on the printer UI takes into account the weight of the cartridge, so this will generally be a more accurate number.
If you see a discrepancy in the amounts that seems like an error, please try calibrating the load cell (weight sensor) in Settings > Tools > Calibration > Cartridge load cell, or feel free to reach out to our Support team - they can use the printer logs to look into the issue.
We finished our first cartridge today, and the machine indicated it was empty, exactly as it was - so that is at least positive. Dashboard is still wildly off, but the machine is spot on.
Is there a process to raise a formal ticket for PreForm?
Glad to hear tracking the resin level using the printer UI is working well!
To report a bug in PreForm, you can use the Feedback button directly in the application, in the lower right corner. But reaching out to our Support team is also always an option - if there is an underlying software issue, they will be able to direct this to the correct team.
